June 2008 It was very nice to see European Tour Star, Jo Clingan. She paid us a flying visit between tour events. Jo has been struggling to make the cut in many events and feels her putting is letting her down. I viewed Jo's stroke on the SamPutt lab in conjunction with video analysis, and felt she had a little problem in what I would call synchronizing her stroke. We made a few changes, which seemed to have the desired effect. HSPSE wish Jo all the best for the forthcoming season.

November 17th 2007
November 1st 2007 Over the past few months, I have been travelling around the country talking to some of the UK’s top eye tracking specialists and neurologists, researching what role the eyes play during the putting stroke, pre and post strike. During some of my research, I have used the EyeLink II, a Video-based eye tracking system. The EyeLink II system consists of three miniature cameras mounted on a comfortable padded headband. Two eye cameras allow binocular eye tracking or easy selection of the subject's dominant eye. Research topics covered to date: - This research has already given me a greater understanding of the natural workings of the eye within the putting stroke. I am sure during the next few months with this ongoing research I will have some new insights to pass on to all HSPSE pupils.
September 1st 2007 After three rounds of the 2007 Motocaddy Championship, Barnes (Ferndown GC, Dorset) and Eddie Vernon (Burton-on-Trent) were tied on nine-under at Ufford Park, Suffolk. That meant a play-off as both competitors replayed the 18th hole and Barnes held his nerve by sinking a 12-foot putt to claim a birdie, while Vernon could only register a par So Barnes (pictured above) claimed the £10,000 top prize, a result that catapults him up from 69th in the 2007 Order of Merit to eighth in the rankings. He has been a regular on the tour for the last three seasons and this is his third top 20 finish of the year after also performing well in the Irish events at Roganstown and Faithlegg in May. Dean has been a regular visitor to the HSPSE over the past few months and all those associated with HSPSE would like to congratulate Dean on his first tour win.
July 22nd 2007 In an emotional interview Padriag told BBC TV 'Obviously I've come a long way. When I turned pro I'd have settled for being a good journeyman golfer. It's been great being named as someone who could win a major but that brings its own pressure. I''m sure there's a hell of a party (in Ireland) now and I know I don't have anything to do for two-and-a-half days so I'm going to party on."

5th May 2007 New Yes! Golf putter soft as a baby’s… YES! Golf has just added a new putter to its line-up of C-Groove models. The Abbie putter, saw its debut at the 2007 PGA Merchandise Show. It is a C-Groove traditional blade forged carbon steel putter, computer milled, with a straight shaft and slant-neck hosel. The Abbie putter is a traditional weighted blade putter computer milled from 302 soft carbon steel, with a head weight of 350 grams. The straight shaft with a slant neck hosel features a single sight line in the cavity for alignment. Abbie is available with a loft of 2.5° (Standard); Lie 72° (3° flat or upright available) in right hand only. The Abbie putter will be in golf shops and golf retail stores May /June ! 2007 at a suggested retail of £185. The Abbie is an exceptionally bonny putter, as it shares its name with Harold Swash’s recently born great grand-daughter. In keeping with the tradition of great ladies giving their name to our putters – started courtesy of Mrs Tracey Goosen, on the occasion of husband Retief’s US Open win in 2005 – Young Miss Abbie Emma Sumner was born …. to Harold’s grandson Andrew and his partner Paula in May 2006. “The Abbie is undoubtedly the ‘softest feel’ putter Yes Golf has ever produced and has a uniquely responsive feel off the face,” says Peter Allison of Yes! Golf in the UK. “During the testing process, golfers really liked the feel and distance-control the carbon steel gave them. Combined with how much sooner the ball rolls off the putter face owing to the C-Groove technology, the Abbie’s very special touch gives more control, accuracy and consistency overall.” Yes! C-Groove Putters have gained great popularity over the last year both on the professional tours and in the golf shops. Yes! Golf had twenty eight worldwide wins in 2006, including six European PGA Tour wins, three LPGA Tour wins and three Nationwide Tour wins. YES! Golf has over 150 tour professionals worldwide using their putters.
19th January 2007 The West of England Golf Academy (WEGA) officially opens the country’s first Regional C-Groove Custom Fitting Centre. WEGA at The Henbury Golf Club opened it's doors for a day-long putting clinic. People were invited in, not just to try out Yes! Golf’s putter range, but even to bring in their own putters for an MOT, where the loft, lie and length were evaluated in context of the individual’s style of play. In addition, at the point of address even before the golfer takes a stroke, the professional Nick Riley can analyze the loft and lie of the player’s putter and quickly gauge how out of kilter the putter is. Being able to make these adjustments puts the player holding the putter ‘ahead of the game’ before he even starts his backswing. The video capture for one golfer clearly shows that the loft is angled 4 degrees upwards and the shaft was likewise 4 degrees behind the perpendicular. The net result is that the ball is launched, back-spinning into the air by the putter face and remains airborne for fully 12 inches - long enough to make its landing on the line and in the direction originally intended a virtual impossibility. Additionally, as the shaft is too long for the player, the toe of the putter is too far up and therefore every putt this players hits will be pulled to the left. All this can be identified from the video of just one putter stroke.
The theory behind the C-Groove is that the 30°upward angle of the grooves on the putter face simultaneously lift the ball out of its resting place on the green and more rapidly precipitate the over-the-top roll than any other putter on the market.
